MSF Press Release 3rd July 2008 MSF 2008 AGM and Election Results
The Muslim Safety Forum (MSF) held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on the 2nd of July 2008 at the Islamic Cultural Centre. The first session saw keynote speeches by the Deputy Mayor of London Richard Barnes and the founder of Islamic Relief Dr Hany El-Banna. The Deputy Mayor mentioned the importance of MSF and expressed his support for the work being performed by the organisation. He highlighted how the diversity, spirit and unity of our city can be captured with the words – “we are one London”. Dr El-Banna mentioned that “it is vital for all society to have security and peace; and this is an essential feature of true Islamic values”. He stressed that the Muslim community needs to be active and engaged citizens and rise to the challenge of making Britain safer, prosperous and a fairer society for all.
Saif Ahmed, Chief Executive of Muslim Aid was the MSF Election Commissioner and announced the names of the elected Trustees for the next two year term. The results of the elections are as follows: Chair: Mujib Miah (Muslim Welfare House) Vice Chair: Abdurahman Jafar (Islamic Society of Britain) Secretary: Mujibul Islam (Young Muslim Organisation UK) Treasurer: Azad Ali (Islamic Forum Europe) Public Relations: Muhammad Abul Kalam (Young Muslim organisation UK) Assistant Secretary: Jahanara Khanom (Women’s Relief) Assistant Treasurer: Shamiul Joardar (Muslim Voices) Assistant Public Relations: Naeem Darr (Muslim Directory) "Over the last few years the MSF has made considerable progress. It is my ardent hope and desire that the newly elected Trustees will build on the successes. I am committed to working tirelessly with the community and our strategic partners to promote safety and security for all." said Mujib Miah, the elected Chair.
